You’ll definitely want to check out Lekki, Victoria Island, and the coastline. Tarkwa Bay and Elegushi Beach are popular favourites, but there are loads of public and private beaches (attached to resorts) to enjoy.

There are two seasons in Lagos – wet and dry season. The dry season runs from around November to March, and the city really comes alive with music and festivals.

Head to the coastline to enjoy the beach or to Lekki to check out the famous Lekki Conservation Centre, the Nike Art Gallery and the Lekki market.

Light clothing is essential in Nigeria, owing to its year-round humidity. Heading to the tropics, you’ll also want to make sure you have visited your doctor before boarding for advice on preventing insect-borne illnesses like malaria and yellow fever.

Staying in Lagos, you can explore everything the city has to offer, as well as use it as a base from which to go further afield in Nigeria.
