You can certainly walk around Amman, but being a bustling city some places are more hazardous to walk than others! If you’re up for a stroll then head to Rainbow Street, where you can get lost in the streetscape. For attractions more further afield, transport options are cheap and easy.


Autumn (September, October November) or Spring (March, April May) are good times to visit. The temperature is more mild than the very hot and dry summer.


Check out the Roman ruins at the Citadel and head to the Roman Theatre for a spot of history, then get refreshed at one of the many cafes and restaurants along Rainbow Street. When you’ve exhausted Amman there is plenty more of Jordan to discover outside the city limits.

Rainbow Street is certainly the most colourful street in Amman, and is located at a handy distance to downtown Amman, where you’ll find many of the landmarks you came here to visit.
