Perth Airport has two distinct terminal areas. The original domestic buildings, known as Terminals 3 and 4 are located on the west side of the airport grounds and are accessed from Brearley Avenue, just off the Great Eastern and Tonkin Highway Interchange. These terminals are occupied by Qantas, Qantas Link and Jetstar. Virgin Australia also operates flights from terminal 3, but in 2015 the airline will consolidate all its operations at terminals 1 and 2.

The international terminal, known as Terminal 1, as well as the new domestic facility referred to as Terminal 2 are located side by side on the eastern side of the airport grounds. All international flights depart from Terminal 1 while Virgin Australia Regional and TigerAir flights depart from Terminal 2. All Virgin Australia operations will move to Terminals 1 and 2 in 2015.

Perth Airport Quick Facts

Distance from CBD:  12 – 17 km depending on terminal
Number of airlines: 26 (18 international; 8 domestic)
Number of destinations served: 50
Number of terminals: 4
Number of runways: 2

Check-in

Check-in is located on the departures level of each terminal. As there are three separate airline terminals for domestic operations, it is important to check in advance on what terminal your flight is departing from. In 2015 there will be a number of airline terminal changes with the opening of new facilities.

Check-in times must also be adhered to as airlines have strict cut off times for flight check-in. Passengers attempting to check-in after the flight closing time may be denied boarding, which could also result in the loss of the value of the ticket.

Baggage

Baggage claim is located on the arrivals level of each terminal. Flight displays are located at the baggage carousel area notifying of the correct baggage collection area for each flight. Baggage trolleys are also located in the baggage claim area for those needing assistance with multiple bags.

Should a passenger exceed their baggage allowance, the Unaccompanied Baggage Services provides for shipment of extra bags. This service is located on the Ground Floor of the International Terminal (T1). Baggage wrapping is another service provided, protecting the bag and its contents from theft or damage.

Baggage storage lockers are provided in small, medium and large sizes and can be found in all four terminals. Baggage storage is allowed up to 30 days.

Money Exchange

Travelex stores are located in the International Terminal (T1) where over 40 currencies can be purchased or exchanged. Travelex also provides ATM exchanges and dispenses four different currencies – Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and US dollars. ATMs are located in terminals 1 and 3.

Internet Access / Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is available in terminals 1, 2 and 3.

Family Services

Each terminal features a parenting room. These private areas feature changing tables, nappy disposal bins and comfortable furnishings. In the International Terminal, parenting rooms are located on the ground floor, first floor, the arrivals concourse adjacent to Gate 4 and the second floor departures lounge.

Showers

Shower facilities are available in the International Terminal (T1). These are located in the restrooms next to the departures gates on the first and second floors. Towels are not provided.

Airline Lounges

Both Qantas and Virgin Australia provide lounges for their domestic passengers. Open to their elite frequent flyers, business class guests and Virgin Lounge and Qantas Club members, these spaces provide a quiet environment in which to work or relax.

The Virgin Australia Lounge is located in terminal 3, just past the security check point. This Terminal 3 location will remain open until the airline consolidates all flight operations in terminals 1 and 2. The move should take place in June or July of 2015. Opened in late 2013, a second Virgin Australia Lounge can also be found in the new Terminal 2.

The Qantas Lounge can be found in Terminal 4 on Level 1, between gates 13 and 14. In early 2013, the lounge went through an expansion and renovation providing space for an additional 140 guests.

There are four airline lounges in the International Terminal (T1) and they are located on the second level of the departures area. Passengers can access these lounges once they make their way through the security and Immigration check points. The four lounges include the Emirates Lounge, Malaysia Airlines Lounge, Qantas’ Captain’s Club and the Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge. These lounges open approximately three hours before departure.

Terminal 1 – International

All international departures arrive and depart from Terminal 1. Eighteen airlines, including Virgin Australia and Qantas serve a wide array of international destinations from this facility. In 2015, a domestic pier will be opened for the exclusive use of Virgin Australia. This will provide for convenient transfers between Virgin Australia flights and their alliance partners Air New Zealand and Etihad.

Terminal 2

Located just next door to Terminal 1, this is the first new terminal to be built at Perth in 26 years. Opened in 2013, current tenants include Virgin Australia and TigerAir. The terminal can be accessed via Horrie Miller Drive.

Terminal 3 and 4

The Qantas Group of airlines operates domestic services from terminals 3 and 4. This includes Qantas, Qantas Link and Jetstar. The Qantas Group will have full use of these terminals once Virgin Australia moves its remaining operations from Terminal 3 to their new Domestic Pier at Terminal 1. In the lead up to taking over the remaining gates in terminals 3 and 4, Qantas has spent millions of dollars refurbishing their lounge and gate areas. Terminals 3 and 4 are attached which makes for seamless connections between the two structures. Access to the terminals is off of Brearley Avenue.

Transport
