SAA welcomes you to bring up to 3 pieces of baggage, if you exceed your carry-on and checked-in baggage limits, additional baggage rates will apply.

The check-in for domestic SAA flights opens 2 hours before departure and closes 45 minutes before take-off. The check-in for international flights is required to be completed 3 hours before departure, and flights to the USA have to be done 4 hours prior to departure.
