Things You Should Know

There are a couple of things you should know before you depart on your trip, particularly if you are flying for the first time! Here are just a couple of things to remember when it comes to preparing for your first travel experience.

  • Understanding your travel terms: while you plan your perfect holiday there are some terms you should familiarise yourself with. Have you ever wondered what the difference is between all-inclusive and half board? Per Person vs Per Person Sharing? Here is a list of some essential travel terms that every jet-setter needs to know.
  • Check flight times: If you are catching a flight for the first time, you should know that there are a few procedures and processes that need to take place before you depart on your flight. Be sure to check the departure time as well as the time that your gate will close before the flight takes off. This will ensure that you arrive at the airport with time to spare! If you are also connecting flights make sure there is enough time for you to get to one gate to another. Rule of thumb, we recommend arriving 4 hours early for international and 3 hours for domestic.
  • Form of identification: You will not be allowed on the flight if you are unable to provide a form of identification when you check-in. If you are travelling overseas, you will need to have your passport with you. If you are just taking a local flight, your ID or even your driver's licence would be accepted!
  • Visas: If you are travelling overseas, you will need to ensure that you are aware of the visa regulations of the country based on the passport that you hold. Most countries require that you apply for a visa before departing so be sure to ensure about the visa regulations of the country you are going to before booking your tickets!
  • Look into checking in online: If you are wanting to save time and not have to arrive at the airport so early, you can check in for your flight online! This can be done on the airline's website and all you will need to fill in is your reference number! This will allow you to choose your seat and will provide you with your boarding pass. When you get to the airport, all you will need to do is check in your luggage!
