It flies to 75 destinations in 32 countries on five continents. Its primary hub is headquartered at Airline House, a former hangar at Singapore’s Changi Airport.  Singapore Airlines was the first to put the Airbus A380— the world's largest passenger aircraft — as well as the Boeing 787-10 into service. It is the only operator of the ultra-long-range version of the Airbus A350-900.  It is ranked tenth in the world for the number of international passengers carried.

The airline has a predominantly wide-body fleet of 147 passenger aircraft and a variety of cabin classes. These range from economy class, premium economy class, business class, first class and ultra-luxurious suites which are exclusive to the Airbus A380. Singapore Airlines is a member of Star Alliance and as such has codeshare partnerships with more than 36 other airlines. Without a doubt, Singapore Airlines' first class and suites are the crème de la crème of luxury airline experiences.  From the moment you get to the airport until you arrive safely at your destination, every need is attended to by dedicated Singapore Airlines staff; it is without doubt a world-class experience.

In contrast to most other airlines, Singapore Airlines' publicity has concentrated mainly on its flight crew rather than its aircraft and general services. Its highly successful promotional strategy has centred on its well-trained female flight attendants who are widely known as "Singapore Girls".

An interesting fact is that its logo (a stylised bird) was inspired by a dagger featured in regional folklore known as a silver kris. The kris is an integral feature of the airline as evidenced by its SilverKris lounge and the KrisWorld entertainment system.

There are 10 SilverKris lounges spread around the world, in Singapore, Bangkok, London and Perth to name a few.  The lounges offer travellers a selection of warm food and light snacks, barista and bartender service, rest area/quiet room, meeting rooms, baby care/nursing room, playroom, restrooms and showers, a wheelchair-accessible restroom and shower, wireless internet, and TV.

The airline has been voted 4.5 out of 5 by passengers for in-flight entertainment (Wi-Fi, movies etc.), customer service, cleanliness, check-in, and boarding, and 4 out of 5 for legroom, seat comfort, on-board experience, value for money, and food and beverages.

The chances are that you might have to overnight one or two nights in Singapore either by choice or while waiting for your connecting flight. This presents you with the opportunity to either simply relax in a nearby hotel or even to explore some of what this country has to offer.

The nearby Crowne Plaza Changi Airport hotel is recommended.  It’s only a short, easy walk from the airport’s Terminal 3 and if deplaning at another terminal, just hitch a ride on the inter-terminal SkyTrain to get to Terminal 3.  Everyone needs a luxurious shower or some time in a swimming pool after a long flight; this hotel offers both.

If you have time on your hands and your hunger pangs are screaming at you, take a taxi to the East Coast Lagoon Food Village where you'll find fantastic street food and drinks at incredibly low prices. Or why not visit the fabulous Gardens by the Bay and, good news for budget-conscious visitors, entry is free and, best of all, their evening light show is a joy to watch.  Take a stroll along Marina Bay where you can enjoy views of the harbour, the Marina Bay Sands, and of course, Singapore's famous Merlion. Singapore's Chinatown is also worth a visit, as is Little India. Maybe visit Orchard Road which is a shopaholic's delight and marvel at the huge range of shops situated in one place.

Your journey awaits on board the world's most-awarded airline, so let us help plan your journey today.
