Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN)

The Arlanda Express train is the fastest way to reach Stockholm city centre, running every 15–30 minutes non-stop to Stockholm Central Station in about 20 minutes. It’s quick, efficient and very Swedish – you’ll be sipping coffee in Gamla Stan before you know it. 

Flygbussarna airport coaches run frequently to Stockholm city centre and surrounding suburbs, offering a budget-friendly alternative to the train. 

Stockholm Airport offers a range of parking options including short-term, long-term and premium lots. Pre-booking online is recommended for the best rates. 

Terminals 2 and 4 share a complex and are connected internally. Terminal 5 is adjacent and linked by a pedestrian tunnel through SkyCity. Arlanda South train station serves Terminals 2–4, while Arlanda North station serves Terminal 5. 

SJ and Mälartåg regional trains also serve Arlanda Central Station, connecting the airport to Uppsala and Stockholm. These are generally a more affordable option than the Arlanda Express. 

Taxis are available outside all terminals. The journey to Stockholm city centre takes around 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. 

Car rental agencies are available at the airport. Talk to your Travel Expert about organising car hire for your trip or book it yourself online before you leave. 

A large number of airlines fly into and out of Stockholm Airport, including SAS, Norwegian, Ryanair, easyJet, Finnair, British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Thai Airways, United Airlines and many more. With dozens of airlines serving over 150 destinations, ARN is Sweden’s largest and best-connected airport. 

As a general guide, aim for about 1.5 hours before domestic flights, two to 2.5 hours before European departures, and three hours before intercontinental flights. During peak travel periods, queues can be longer than usual, so building in extra time is always a smart call. There are plenty of transport options available from Stockholm Airport, including the Arlanda Express train, regional SJ and Mälartåg trains, Flygbussarna coaches, taxis and car rental. The Arlanda Express is the fastest option, reaching Stockholm Central in about 20 minutes. 

Yes, Stockholm Airport has several lounges including the SAS Lounge in Terminal 5 and pay-per-use lounges accessible via Priority Pass and other membership programmes. Amenities typically include food, drinks, Wi-Fi, showers and workstations. Access may be possible depending on your ticket class, frequent flyer membership or by purchasing a day pass. Several of Stockholm Airport’s lounges offer shower facilities and rest areas. There are also hotels at the airport, including the Radisson Blu Arlanda which is connected directly to the SkyCity area between the terminals. The multi-faith quiet rooms in SkyCity can also provide a calm space.
