Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG)

There are three main parking facilities for travellers driving to Shanghai Airport, with a combined capacity of over ten thousand spaces. P1 and P2 offer both hourly and daily rates, while the Long-Term Parking Garage (P4) is a more affordable option for those longer holidays.  

Limited car rental options are available from Shanghai Airport. It’s worth noting that international driving permits are not recognised in China, so talk to your Travel Expert and check the requirements well in advance if you’re planning a self-drive holiday in China and consider other options.  

Taxi pick-up points are available outside of Arrivals Gate 12 for Terminal 1 and Arrival Gate 25 for Terminal 2 at Shanghai Airport.

Shanghai has a well-connected public transport network, making it easy to travel from the airport to the city centre and beyond. The most popular and exciting option is to ride the Shanghai Maglev train (one of the fastest commercial trains in the world!) from Shanghai Airport to Longyang Road Station, where you can transfer to Metro Line 2. Other options, including the Airport Link Line and local bus services, are also available. Wondering how to get from Shanghai Airport to Shanghai Disneyland by public transport? Catch the Shanghai Maglev to Longyang Road Station and connect to Metro Line 16. Then at Luoshan Road Station, transfer to Metro Line 11 and ride the service to the Disney Resort Station at the end of the line. 

A free shuttle bus runs frequently between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Shanghai Airport, making it easy to transfer between them. Alternatively, passengers can walk between the two terminals in 10 to 15 minutes. 

As a major international airport, there are lots of different airlines flying into and out of Shanghai Airport (PVG). Major carriers include China Eastern Airlines, Air China, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air and Shanghai Airlines. For a more complete list, see the page above. 

As a general rule, you should aim to arrive at Shanghai Airport at least two hours before your scheduled departure time for domestic flights and three hours before international flights. This should give you plenty of time to complete check-in, drop your bags and pass through any necessary security screenings before your boarding time. There are plenty of transport options available from Shanghai Airport to the city centre (and vice versa), including airport shuttles, taxi transfers, and public transport connections like the Shanghai Maglev train and Metro Line 2.
