Authorised airport taxis are operated by JUTA and JCAL, with dispatchers at the Ground Transportation Hall. Fares are fixed per vehicle – approximately US$30 to Montego Bay hotels, US$80 to Ocho Rios and US$130 to Negril. It’s recommended to use these licensed taxis and pay at the official taxi desk. 

Short-term parking is available directly outside the terminal. Rates are approximately J$250 per hour for the first three hours and J$600 per day. 

Montego Bay Airport has a single main passenger terminal, so there’s no need for inter-terminal transfers. 

Most resort travellers have pre-booked transfers. After clearing customs, you’ll find hotel desks from Sandals, Half Moon, Couples and others, as well as tour operator counters to arrange complimentary shuttles. If you’re on a package holiday, your rep will be there to meet you. 

Major car rental companies, including Hertz, Avis and Budget, have desks in the arrivals hall. Remember, driving is on the left in Jamaica. Talk to your Travel Expert about organising car hire for your trip or book it yourself online before you leave. 

A large number of airlines fly into and out of Montego Bay Airport, including American Airlines, Delta, United, Southwest, JetBlue, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, TUI Airways, Air Canada, WestJet, Copa Airlines and many more. With around 28 airlines serving 31 destinations across North America, Europe and Latin America, MBJ is Jamaica’s main international gateway. 

As a general rule, you should aim to arrive at Montego Bay Airport at least three hours before international flights. During peak tourist season – particularly winter weekends – the terminal can get seriously busy, so building in that extra time is always a good call. The main transport options from Montego Bay Airport are authorised JUTA and JCAL taxis with fixed fares, pre-booked hotel shuttles and tour operator transfers, and car rental. There is no public bus or train service from the airport. Most resort travellers will have transfers arranged as part of their package. 

Yes, Montego Bay Airport’s famous Club MoBay operates multiple departure and arrival lounges featuring Jamaican-themed decor, complimentary food and drinks, Wi-Fi, a kids’ play area and even spa treatments. Club MoBay also offers fast-track through security and immigration. Access can be pre-booked online, purchased at the door, or through lounge membership programmes such as Priority Pass. Check with the lounge directly or talk to your Travel Expert for more information. 

While there are no hotels within the terminal itself, the Club MoBay lounges provide comfortable rest areas during operating hours. There are also plenty of hotels and resorts located very close to the airport in the Montego Bay area.

While last-minute sale fares to and from Montego Bay Airport may become available, you’ll generally find it pays to plan ahead, especially if you’re booking international flights.
