Miami International Airport (MIA) has been connecting South Florida with the world since its humble beginnings as a base for Pan American Airways (better known as Pan Am) back in 1928. Flights to and from Miami Airport operate out of three terminals and six concourses, and the airport is located roughly 13km northwest of Downtown Miami. What started as one of America’s earliest international airports is now among its busiest gateways for international passengers and is the country’s number one airport for international cargo. Miami Airport is a major hub for American Airlines and provides direct flights and key connections from the US to popular destinations across Latin America and the Caribbean.
