Mexico City Airport, officially Benito Juárez International Airport, is Mexico’s busiest airport and one of Latin America’s premier aviation hubs. Located just five kilometres east of the city centre, it’s remarkably close to the action – you could be tucking into street tacos within half an hour of landing. With two terminals, over 35 airlines and direct flights to more than 165 destinations across five continents, MEX connects you to everywhere from Madrid to Tokyo. As the hub for Aeroméxico, it’s also your gateway to the rest of Mexico.

Mexico City Airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 handles most international airlines, while Terminal 2 is home to Aeroméxico and its SkyTeam partners along with some domestic carriers. It’s always a good idea to get to the airport nice and early for your flight, and to confirm check-in times directly with your airline as each may have different requirements. As a general guide, aim for at least two hours before domestic departures and three hours before international flights. MEX can get seriously busy, so that extra buffer is always a smart call. Remember, it’s often possible to check in online in advance via your airline’s website or app – a lekker way to save time on the day of travel.
Baggage allowances vary by airline and ticket class, so it’s important to confirm what’s included with your flight booking to avoid any surprises at bag drop! For more specific information on baggage limits, such as the size, weight and number of bags included in your airfare, check with your airline or ask your Travel Expert for assistance. Need to store your bags at Mexico City Airport? 24-hour luggage storage facilities are available in both terminals – handy if you want to explore the city before your flight. Baggage wrapping services are also on offer in each terminal.
There are a range of facilities available at Mexico City Airport for your convenience and use before or after your flight.

Multi-level parking garages at each terminal offer hourly and daily rates, with 24-hour security.
Terminals 1 and 2 are about two kilometres apart. The Aerotrén shuttle train runs airside between the two every five minutes (boarding pass required). Free inter-terminal buses also operate landside around the clock.
The Metrobús Line 4 (Airport Express) runs 24 hours from both terminals to Mexico City’s historic centre, including stops at San Lázaro and Centro. The fare is around M$30.
