About Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)

Fort Lauderdale Airport is one of South Florida’s busiest gateways and your launching pad to sun, sand and everything in between. Located in Dania Beach, just a few kilometres south of downtown Fort Lauderdale and about 30 kilometres north of Miami, FLL handles around 325 daily departures to over 125 US cities and dozens of international destinations across the Caribbean, Latin America and Europe. It’s also the go-to airport for cruise-goers heading to nearby Port Everglades – so don’t be surprised if you spot a few folks in Hawaiian shirts.

Check-in

Fort Lauderdale Airport has four terminals – 1, 2, 3 and 4 – connected by shuttle buses outside security. It’s always a good idea to get to the airport nice and early for your flight, and to confirm check-in times directly with your airline as each may have different requirements. As a general guide, aim for at least two hours before domestic departures and three hours before international flights. Security lines can get hectic during peak times, so building in that buffer is a smart call. Remember, it’s often possible to check in online in advance via your airline’s website or app – a lekker way to save time on the day of travel.

Baggage

Baggage allowances vary by airline and ticket class, so it’s important to confirm what’s included with your flight booking to avoid any surprises at bag drop! For more specific information on baggage limits, such as the size, weight and number of bags included in your airfare, check with your airline or ask your Travel Expert for assistance. Need to store your bags at Fort Lauderdale Airport? Bags To Go operates secure luggage storage and wrapping services across all four terminals – handy if you want to squeeze in some beach time before your flight.

Facilities

There are a range of facilities available at Fort Lauderdale Airport for your convenience and use before or after your flight.

  • Currency exchange kiosks in Terminals 2 and 4
  • Private nursing suites in each terminal
  • Indoor and outdoor pet relief areas
  • ATMs in every terminal
