Cairo International Airport (CAI)

There are three parking facilities at Cairo Airport. The Terminal Building 1 parking has a capacity of over 3,500 spaces and offers both short and long-term rates. There’s also Terminal Building 3 and the Multi-Storey Garage (located between Terminal 1 and 3).  

A number of car rental companies, including AVIS, Europcar, Budget and Sixt, are available at Cairo Airport. Talk to your Travel Expert about organising car hire for your trip or book it yourself online before you leave. 

Taxi services and rideshare options like Uber are a convenient way of travelling between Cairo Airport and your hotel or the city centre. Make sure you’re using a licensed taxi provider and be wary of drivers approaching you in the Arrivals Hall, as this is a common tourist scam.

Looking to catch public transport from Cairo Airport to Downtown Cairo? City buses are available from the bus station in front of Terminal 1 and will help you reach a nearby station with a Cairo Metro connection to get into the city.  

Use the Cairo Airport Automated People Mover to transfer between the terminals. The free train service runs between Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, as well as the Air Mall and Car Park, with a maximum journey time of just five minutes! 

There are lots of different airlines flying into and out of Cairo Airport (CAI) with major carriers including EgyptAir, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Emirates and Turkish Airlines. For a more complete list, see the page above. 

As a general rule, you should aim to arrive at Cairo Airport at least two hours before your scheduled departure time for domestic flights and three hours before international flights. This should give you plenty of time to complete check-in, drop your bags and pass through any necessary security screenings before your boarding time. Keep in mind that you may experience longer lines and delays during busy travel periods, so check with the airport, airline or your Travel Expert directly for more information on recommended arrival times. 

There are plenty of transport options available from Cairo Airport to Downtown Cairo (and vice versa), including airport shuttles, taxi and rideshare transfers, car rentals and public transport services like city bus routes, which facilitate Cairo Metro connections. 

Yes, there are several lounges at Cairo Airport, including the Ahlein Emerald Lounge, Ahlein Premium Lounge and Emirates Lounge. Access to airport lounges may be possible depending on your ticket class, frequent flyer membership, credit card benefits or by purchasing a day pass.
