Who’s flying and who to choose

South Africans are getting more and more comfortable with domestic travel, taking every opportunity to explore the beautiful corners of our country. If you’re wondering which local airlines are flying, or who to choose, check out this local airline roundup from Flight Centre’s Air Team.

With flexibility top of mind, the variety of choice for your domestic flight this holiday season is very welcome indeed.

FlySafair

FlySafair took South Africa by storm when it launched in 2014. The airline has a fantastic track record when it comes to on-time performance: 96% in September 2020 and an impressive 94% for the year to date. Offering flexible fares and the ability to "package" your flight as you wish by adding bags, meals, priority boarding, seat allocation and more, FlySafair was a breath of fresh air in the local airspace.

It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a no-frills flight that delivers exactly what it promises – getting you from Point A to Point B safely and on time.

Flight Centre Tip:

Customers who were issued with FlySafair vouchers and were due to depart between 26 March and 15 June 2020, can qualify for 20% off their next flight when using the voucher.
The 20% off promotion is valid for as long as the voucher is valid. With vouchers valid for 12 months from the date of issue, and available to book on any available flight no matter how far in the future, use your voucher and enjoy a 20% discount on your next domestic flight.
However, vouchers can be refunded if customers prefer a refund over a voucher. If you booked your FlySafair flight with your Flight Centre Travel Expert, they’ll be able to assist you with rebooking.

Lift

The Flight Centre Travel Group welcomes the addition of a brand new low-cost carrier to the local airspace: Lift. With terms and conditions offering flexibility around date changes and a tech-centric, customer-friendly approach, the new airline will further drive competition, giving you more choice and hopefully pushing down airfare pricing.
Lift will launch with two routes: Johannesburg-Cape Town and Johannesburg-George on December 10, 2020.

Airlink

If you prefer more creature comforts or are heading to a slightly more off-the-beaten-track destination, consider Airlink. This full-service carrier offers fares including one checked-in bag and a meal, so you don't have to worry about adding any extras and will have everything you need for a comfortable flight. Airlink has an extensive route network, flying to many destinations other carriers do not. So, if you're heading off to Skukuza or Richard’s Bay, Airlink may be just your ticket.
