Denver Museum of Nature and Science

Denver’s Museum of Nature and Science is the Rocky Mountain region’s premier nature museum.  The varied and extensive exhibits offer visitors a unique and interesting look at the natural history of the American west and the planet as a whole in the areas of anthropology, geology, zoology and even space science.  

The museum’s state-of-the-art facilities offer a fun way to learn about the world and the area’s of science that are instrumental in its understanding.  An IMAX theatre screens larger than life productions in its auditorium while the Gates Planetarium presents the night sky in all it glory.  The planetarium’s sophisticated projector and 3-D sound system create stunning shows which guests can enjoy from semi-reclining seats for maximum viewing pleasure.

Just some of the interesting exhibits on offer include the always popular Prehistoric journey, which illustrates the progression of life on earth from mere organisms to dinosaurs through to life on earth as we know it today.  Other permanent exhibits include Egyptian Mummies, Gems and Minerals and North American Indian Cultures.  

The museum is located just north of East Colfax Avenue in City Park.  Travelling east on Colfax Avenue, turn left on Colorado Blvd.  The museum entrance is at Colorado Blvd and Montview Blvd.  The museum offers free parking in its car park on the north side of the museum.  Bide racks are also located on the north side of the museum in front of the main entrance on Level 2.  If travelling by bus, route numbers 20, 32 and 40 serve the area on Colorado Blvd.
