This classic astronomical observatory located in Denver’s Observatory Park is a beautiful domed sandstone structure that was built in 1890.  The facility’s refracting telescope with 20 inch lens has been used since 1894.  Chamberlin is operated by the University of Denver and through its many public outreach programs and viewing nights, the public is able to tour the historic structure and glimpse the moon, stars and planets through the famous old telescope.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Chamberlin Observatory is a unique place to explore the far reaches of space.  The remarkable building with all its historical significance brings the past alive while the large telescope brings the heavens up close.  Informative lectures are offered on public nights and the viewings provided by the extraordinary telescope are always popular.  To ensure manageable group sizes on these fun filled nights of discovery, reservations are required.

Located south of downtown Denver, Chamberlin Observatory is just minutes from U.S. Interstate 25.  From Downtown Denver take I-25 South to South Colorado Blvd; exit 204.  Turn right on South Colorado Blvd and take the second right onto Evans Avenue.  Proceed approximately 8 blocks and turn left on South Milwaukee Street.  Observatory Park is one block away.
