The vast and acclaimed permanent collection includes century’s old American art from the U.S., Canada and Mexico as well as a fascinating exhibit on ancient indigenous American art including ceramics, textiles and sculptures that are thousands of years old.

The Dallas Museum of Art also holds one of the finest collections in the world of decorative arts. Equally impressive collections include African, Asian and Pacific Islands Art while the European Paintings and Sculpture exhibit brings together gorgeous pieces from as early as the 1700s.

The Arts District and the Museum of Art are located just north of downtown Dallas. The museum is about a twenty minute walk from Elm Street proceeding up North Harwood Street. The Dallas Area Rapid Transit or DART trains stop at the St. Paul Station just near the Ross Avenue entrance to the museum. If driving, the museum does feature a large underground car park and there are several public car parks located nearby.
