For the grape lovers...

Foodies and wine lovers flock to New Zealand, and the good news is you can treat your tastebuds to some serious foodie haunts right here in Auckland. Grab a bite at the popular dining precincts right in the heart of the city or visit Auckland’s wine regions to taste superb wines and fresh produce.

For a long weekend with a culinary focus, get your tastebuds ready to experience the flavours of New Zealand.

Day 1

Once you arrive in Auckland and are checked into your hotel, the food and wine adventure begins! Make your way to the Wynyard Quarter waterfront precinct and have dinner at one of the popular eateries.

Day 2

Start the day bright and early with a walk to the open-air City Farmers’ Market at Britomart, held every Saturday morning. Here, you can grab breakfast and admire the fresh produce before heading to the ferry terminal to join the Wine on Waiheke tour for the afternoon. Known as the ‘Island of Wine’, you can’t go past sampling local Waiheke drops on a Wine on Waiheke tour.

Visit some of the island’s top wineries and enjoy the breathtaking landscape whilst indulging in delicious local produce. Retire in the evening back in Auckland. Why not hang with the locals and check out the tantalising Mt Eden foodie village?

Day 3

After a light breakfast, tastebuds will rejoice with a food and wine inspired day trip, where you’ll experience the incredible food, wine and arts of the Matakana Coast on a Great Tastes of Matakana tour. A self-proclaimed ‘assault on the senses’, you can leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind and escape to the rolling green hills just an hours’ drive north of the city.

Tasting everything from local honey and honey mead to wines and cheeses, the tour even takes in a visit to a boutique chocolate factory. Enjoy a feast on local flavours for lunch at the Mahurangi River Winery, then be dropped right back at your hotel in the city before sundown.

Day 4

Before you fly home, there’s time to take in the Urban Village delights tour. With the pleasures of food comes the necessity of exercise. Get healthy doses of both on an Urban Village Delights walking tour through Ponsonby, Auckland’s hippest inner-city suburb, taking in the cafe culture and gourmet delicacies the charming urban village has to offer. Now, we don’t want to stereotype, but those who love to eat usually love to shop too.

Luckily, there are plenty of arts, crafts and designer goods on offer along the walk. Lunch is paired with premium selections of New Zealand wines and you can expect lots of fresh produce, artisanal chocolate, and award-winning coffee and baked goods to fill up on before you head home.
