This is one wildlife park that makes an immediate impression. Visitors to the Malcolm Douglas Wildlife Park are offered a glimpse of the main attraction right at the park’s front door as they enter through the jaws of a giant saltwater crocodile – a unique and cleverly constructed fibreglass one that is.
The park’s popular crocodile feeding tour takes place daily at 3pm and features some of Australia’s largest crocs on display. Many of Australia’s native animals can be found here as well from dingoes and kangaroos to emus, snakes and lizards. And what would an Australian wildlife park be without a bird sanctuary? A wonderful array of birds live here too along with a cassowary of flightless birds from the South Pacific region.
This is an excellent family day out and a great place to become acquainted with a variety of Australia’s native animals. The shop’s store and museum showcase many films from the iconic wildlife filmmaker Malcolm Douglas and these films may be purchased at the store along with many other interesting park souvenirs. Visitors can relax with a cold drink and ice cream too while enjoying the natural view from the outdoor seating area.
To reach the park proceed on the Broome Hwy where the park is located 16 kilometres outside of Broome, approximately a 15 minute drive.
