Stretching 22 kilometres, Broome’s stunning Cable Beach is one of Australia’s most iconic ocean side destinations. Receiving its name from the telegraph cable laid in 1889 connecting Australia with Java and the world, Cable Beach offers crystal blue water, gorgeous Indian Ocean sunsets and endless sunny weather. This beach’s unique feature is that it can all be seen on camel back.

Situated on the red dirt cliffs on Cable Beach’s southern end, Gantheaume Point Light offers a wonderful view of the area. The red rocks and soil around Gantheaume make for a striking coastal contrast with the clear blue waters offering photographers a unique scene to capture. Marine wildlife from dolphins, manta rays and at certain times of year migrating whales can also be seen from this wonderful vantage point.

This pristine coastline is just minutes from Broome and recreational activities are numerous, from tours on camel back and four-wheel drive vehicles to excellent swimming and snorkelling, hours of endless sun worship can be enjoyed on this fun filled beach. A variety of accommodation choices are available including resorts and villas as well as close by camping and caravan sites.

Cable Beach is just minutes from Broome airport and the city centre. The gentle waves on this famous beach create a relaxing atmosphere making this an ideal spot for an enjoyable day out.
