FLIGHT CENTRE TRAVEL GROUP STATEMENT ON COMAIR & KULULA.COM

Thursday, June 9, 2022

JOHANNESBURG, 09 JUNE 2022 – The Flight Centre Travel Group is saddened to hear the news that after 25 years of operation in South Africa, Comair and kulula.com will cease operations with immediate effect.

Today, Comair’s business rescue practitioners announced that a court application has been lodged to convert the airlines’ business rescue proceedings into liquidation proceedings as the rescue practitioners were unable to secure enough capital to recommence operations. The company’s employees and customers who held bookings or were owed refunds will now become creditors of the company.

“Our Travel Experts are proactively contacting affected customers to assist with alternative travel arrangements,” says Euan McNeil, Managing Director of Flight Centre Travel Group South Africa. “Our Experts will also provide information related to Comair’s liquidation process when it becomes available. We are assisting customers who are stranded as first priority and we appreciate your patience at this time as we work to accommodate all our customers.”

“Our thoughts go out to the staff and team at Comair and kulula.com – this is a devastating blow to the Southern African travel industry.”

Customers are urged to contact their dedicated Travel Expert for further assistance.
