IMPORTANT INFORMATION: TRAVEL TO THE FIFA WORLD CUP 2022 IN QATAR

Wednesday, October 26, 2022

25 OCTOBER 2022 – The FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar will take place between 20 November and 18 December 2022. The Flight Centre Travel Group would like to share important information regarding travel to Qatar during this time and the requirements for entry into official World Cup events.

Entry into Qatar between 1 November and 23 December 2022 is only permitted with an approved Hayya card which acts as an entry permit. To apply for a Haaya card, visitors must hold a valid ticket for an official World Cup event. For a fee, ticket holders may use their approved Haaya card to bring in three friends or relatives who do not hold a ticket for one of the official World Cup events.

The Haaya card will permit entry to Qatar, provide entry to stadiums in conjunction with a valid match ticket, access to free public transport on match days and will facilitate smart journey planning, via the Haaya App.

Visitors will need to apply for a Haaya card before travelling to Qatar.

If a traveller has already departed for Qatar prior to 1 November and intends to remain in Qatar during the FIFA World Cup period they will need to visit the nearest MOI Service Centre from the first week of November, to change their permit status. This is important if they have a visitor visa expiring in either November or December. If a visitor has a visa expiring in October, they will need to exit and re-enter with an approved Haaya permit.

Further information can be found here and on the Hayya FAQ portal.
