FCTG South Africa continues to open up the world for everyone to see – this time, through Pride Month

JOHANNESBURG, 12 OCTOBER 2022 – Flight Centre South Africa is proud to announce its travel sponsorship of Pride of Africa: Johannesburg Pride 2022, the largest and longest-running pride event in South Africa and the African continent.

“Flight Centre South Africa will be sponsoring flights, promo items and travel voucher giveaways for Pride of Africa: Johannesburg Pride,” says Megan Vorster, People and Culture General Manager at the Flight Centre Travel Group. “We could not be any prouder and more excited to be a part of this year’s event and lineup to celebrate Pride Month and we have made our commitment as Flight Centre to support all the events.”

With an impressive history spanning over three decades, Pride of Africa: Johannesburg Pride 2022 returns bigger and better, after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Entrance to the main Johannesburg Pride event is free and will be held on Saturday, 29 October 2022 in Sandton City on Rivonia Road, with the theme: Proudly African, Authentically You. Those who are unable to attend in person will be able to watch the festivities via the Johannesburg Pride live stream on YouTube.

The multifaceted Johannesburg Pride platform builds a sense of individual and collective ‘pride’ via access to relevant lifestyle-focused services and activities, networking opportunities and a host of other facilities that provide much needed support, hope, visibility, representation, integration, safety and advocacy.

Key events to note:
15 October: Pride of Africa: Enter the closet

The inaugural event at this year’s African pride month. The intention is to create more awareness and visibility of the African LGBTQ+ community.

22 October: Pride of Africa: Inspirefest

This will be a series of interactive talks with mentors, coaches and motivational speakers.

29 October: Pride of Africa: Johannesburg Pride

With the theme: Proudly African, Authentically You - Reunion Celebration

“We will also be encouraging open dialogues around matters that affect the LGBTIQ+ community,” says Vorster. “We’ll be flying the Pride of Africa flag at our headquarters until the end of the year as a symbol of our own pride surrounding the opportunity to support such an important and exciting event.”
