The Old Frankfurt Opera House is a magnificent, temple like building which pays tribute to the great music and operatic traditions of Germany through the beauty of its classic architecture.

Built in the 1870’s this grand concert hall was heavily damaged during World War II but was rebuilt slowly until its re-opening in 1981.  The beautiful building with its impressive archways and ornate façade overlooks Opernplatz (Opera Square) which hosts many festivals and civic events throughout the year and is a popular leisure spot in the summer.

Level 3 features a fine dining restaurant which is considered to be one of Frankfurt’s best.  The elegant dining incorporates the classic design elements of the opera house and is an impressive place to enjoy excellent food.  In warmer seasons the outdoor balcony overlooking Opernplatz is open for the restaurant’s guests.

Tours of Old Opera House are available.  Guided tours highlight the building’s history, classic architecture elements and showcase the modern technology used for its world class performances and depart from the information desk.

The Alte Oper can be reached on the subway on lines U6 and U7 and is served by the Alte Oper Station.
