Day 1:
Depart to KwaZulu Natal's North Coast - also known as the Dolphin Coast - due to common sightings of bottlenose dolphins, riding the waves Ocean in frolicking pods. This enviable strip of coastline stretches from the Tongaat River at Zimbali to Zinkwazi Beach and the Tugela River mouth in the north. It includes the inland regions of Umhlali and Shakaskraal. The Dolphin Coast is a playground of warm water flanked with glorious beaches set against a backdrop of sugarcane fields. The pretty coastal holiday towns of Ballito, Salt Rock, Umdloti and Zinkwazi bask in sunshine-filled days enjoying the year-round humidity and warmth.

Day 2:

With miles of pristine beaches to choose from, it's no wonder that lazing on the beach is so popular with visitors, but, for those that manage to pry themselves away, there are charter boat cruises, hiking, canoeing and abseiling to choose from, to name but a few. The area is full of places to see, and there is no shortage of things to do. A visit to Shaka's grave at Kwa-Dukuza then a 'muti' trail through the Harold Johnson Nature Reserve ending with a picnic or explore the historic battle sites of Ultimatum Tree or Fort Pearson.

Day 3:

After exploring the exciting rock pools teeming with marine life, why not take to the skies and get a bird's eye view of the magnificent stretch from above? Microlight trips range between a few minutes to an hour-long, giving you the chance to soar over the beautiful landscapes of KwaZulu-Natal.

Day 4:

It's off to "Durbs" today to experience what this bustling hub of the province has to offer. As you reach the beachfront, luxury hotels greet you around each corner, and it's no wonder that this city is often referred to as South Africa's Miami Beach. As with most of KwaZulu Natal, Durban is blessed with balmy weather all year round, making it a perfect holiday paradise.

Day 5:

Day and night, the city never sleeps. There is a wide variety of things to keep your holiday busy. A visit to the uShaka Marine World is often high on the list. South Africa's most loved marine theme park offers a world of water rides, oceanarium, dolphin, seal & penguin shows, shopping and beach activities. At night Durban pulses with energy and comes to life with activities, live music, food and experiences genuinely unique to this port city.

Day 6:

Travel downwards along the coast from Durban towards an area of ultimate summer holiday getaways. The South Coast boasts natural beauty as well as the assortment of things to see and do here. Natural treasures include; sprawling beaches lapped by the warm water of the Indian Ocean, tranquil lagoons, and rocky coves. Inland offers; subtropical forests, rolling grassy hills and spectacular greenery.

Day 7:

Wake up and greet the Hibiscus Coast, named after the vast quantities of colourful hibiscus trees that dot the coastline. Two of South Africa's top golf courses can be found here among others. For the more energetic there are nature reserves that showcase incredible fauna and flora, and the hiking or cycling trails that wind their way through the beauty. The warm ocean is home to loads of colourful and unique marine species. Discover a whole new world as you SCUBA or snorkel below the surface.

Day 8:

With only one full day left on your Homegrown Holiday, how to spend it will be the hardest part. The whole South Coast countryside, and particularly along the many rivers and on the banks of the lagoons, is alive with a massive array of birdlife. The South Coast boasts several wildlife sanctuaries, including the Uvongo Bird park and no less than three reptile parks.

Day 9:

Blue flag beaches will have to wait to be enjoyed again, as today you head back home. But for every season there is a reason to come back again.
