Protea introduces new requirements for check-in process
Protea Hotels has introduced new requirements to its guest check-in process, following changes to South Africa’s Immigration Act. They will take effect today (December 1).
It is now a legal requirement to collect the following information and documents from guests when they check in at a hotel:
A copy of the guest’s identification document or passport, containing a photograph of the guest. For South Africans, this could be a passport, South African ID or South African driver’s licence.
The guest’s full names and surname
The guest’s residential address
The guest’s residence status in South Africa.
“This new requirement will be communicated to guests across the various booking channels and platforms in order to ensure a smooth implementation. Thus Protea Hotels encourages all parties to make prospective guests fully aware of the requirements prior to their arrival at their hotel,” the hotel group said in a statement.
