Emirates introduces seat-selection fee
Emirates passengers looking to select their seats during the booking stages will have to pay a seat-selection fee from October 3.
The new fee will apply to passengers travelling in economy class on special or saver fares across the airline’s network.
According to The National, the fees vary depending on flight duration. Adults travelling on short-haul flights will pay Dh50 (R186) and Dh25 (R93) for a child. For medium-haul routes, adults will pay Dh100 (R371) and Dh50 (R186) per child, while those travelling on long-haul flights will pay Dh150 (R557) per adult and Dh75 (R279) per child.
This fee does not apply to the online check-in window that opens 48 hours before departure.
Emirates’ spokesperson was unable to comment on the new seat-selection fee.
