Breaking news: Lufthansa staff starts one-week strike
Lufthansa’s cabin crew has announced a week-long strike from November 6 as talks concerning retirement benefits between Lufthansa and UFO, a flight attendants' union, have failed. Industrial action is set to run until Friday, November 13.
For today, Friday 06 November, UFO has called all Lufthansa cabin staff at Frankfurt and Dusseldorf to stop work from 14.00 to 23.00.
Lufthansa said that the strike will only affect Lufthansa German Airlines services and not any of its subsidiaries, including Germanwings, Austrian Airlines, Swiss and Brussels Airlines, which will operate as normal.
Lufthansa said in a statement it will do its utmost to keep the effects of a strike to a minimum and to inform passengers as soon as possible. For that reason, Lufthansa requests all passengers early on to stay up-to-date by checking the flight status on LH.com.
