Air Namibia: Cancellation of Flights During the Festive Season
Air Namibia confirms the cancellation of selected Domestic, Regional and Intercontinental flights during the festive season from December 20, 2015 to January 18, 2016 due to low demand.
The airline told Traveller24 the decision to reduce flights due to low demand was not new at all. "It was purely taken on a business economic view and it is customary for Air Namibia to cancel flights during the festive season and has done so many years back," Paul Homateni Nakawa, Air Namibia spokesperson told Traveller24.
“Many passengers are on holidays with their families and many businesses are closed. Leisure travel is minimal during the same period. It does not make any economic sense to operate if we have such low demand.”
“Historically Namibia’s low season is considered during December and January, and over certain days and flights, with careful forward booking planning and historical statistics, when the demand is very low we will reduce frequencies on such days.”
In addition to the SA flights cancellation, Air Namibia has also cancelled certain domestic, regional and intercontinental flights between the periods of December 20, 2015 to January 18, 2016. As a result of the cancellations, all passengers will be re-booked on Air Namibia flights at no fee and there will be no re-routing to other airlines and no provision of accommodation and/or transport, ETNW stated.
“Passengers may apply for a full refund on nett/published fare level via the GDS and quote the following reference number: AUTHSW15M06915.”
Conditions of the procedure:
- All passengers will be rebooked on Air Namibia flights accordingly
- Passengers are to be rebooked at no fee
- No rerouting to other airlines
- No provision of accommodation and/or transport
All tickets will be refunded - including non-refundable tickets.
