Business in Namibia
With nearly 70% of its imports coming from South Africa, Namibia is one of the most sought-after destinations for business travellers from South Africa. Namibia also enjoys high political, economic and social stability which add to its commercial appeal. In recent years, global business and financial news provider, Bloomberg, named Namibia the top emerging market economy in Africa and the 13th best in the world.
Namibia's exports consist mainly of minerals, especially diamonds, livestock, and fish, the bulk of which are destined for South Africa. Recently, Namibia has accounted for approximately 5% of total SACU exports, and a slightly higher percentage of imports. The Namibian economy is closely linked to South Africa with the Namibian dollar pegged to the South African rand.
