Thailand Adventures: 6 Best Beaches In Phuket

8 June 2018

Love sun, sand and surf? Then Phuket is your beach holiday dream destination! With 30 amazing beaches to choose from – each with their own special vibe to suit your style – all you need to do is grab your boardies or bikini and go. Whether you’re into sun tanning, water sports, people watching or partying – one of these top 6 Phuket beaches is perfect for you.

1. Patong Beach

This one’s for the party peeps. Bright, wild and in your face, Patong Beach is as beautiful as it is popular. Chill on the white sandy beach and drink cocktails by day, then head out to Bangla Road where hundreds of go go bars, restaurants and clubs stay pumping till sunrise. Then head back to the beach and do it all over again the next day. It’s 24-hour, non-stop, no-holds-barred beach action!

2. Freedom Beach

Looking for something a little more low-key? Freedom Beach is your best bet. This tranquil oasis is just a few minutes from Patong, but it’s worlds apart when it comes to relaxation. Part of this is because it’s only accessible by long-tail boats, so you need a bit more planning to get there. But the pristine white sands, crystal warm water and uncrowded shores make it well worth the effort. But quiet doesn’t mean deserted. You’ll still find delicious Thai food and refreshing drinks at the local restaurant.

3. Paradise Beach

Let’s get back to the action. Paradise Beach may be small, but it packs a punch when it comes to partying. This previously tucked-away beach has become increasingly popular, so much so that there’s a 200 Baht entrance fee. Pretty cheap considering that you’ll have access to 4km of heavenly beachfront, turquoise ocean, lots of lively restaurants and bars – plus famous Phuket Full Moon parties. Need a break? No worries, there’s a second quieter cove just around the corner with a small bar and beautiful views.

4. Kata Beach

Swaying Casuarina trees, long stretches of ivory sand and a lively restaurant scene make Kata Beach a firm favourite for tourists. Busy but not too busy, Kata Beach offers a range of fashion stores, fun nightlife, trendy restaurants and vibey bars to choose from. It’s also a great surfing hotspot from May to October. A super-awesome all-rounder for whatever you’re into.

5. Kata Noi Beach

The baby sister to Kata Beach, Kata Noi is no less spectacular. Powdery white sand, clear water perfect for snorkelling and swimming, plus loads of beautiful sunset bars and swanky resorts are what make this little beauty a must-see on any Phuket beach list.

6. Ya Nui Beach

If you’re in Phuket for the scenery, look no further than stunning Ya Nui Beach. Located beneath two of Phuket’s most spectacular view points, it’s the perfect spot to snap that enviable Instagram pic. The beach itself is awesome too, with a quaint cove offering great snorkelling and kayaking opportunities. A little nearby island is also a fun place to paddle out to and explore the colourful coral beneath the waves.
