Glamping in Mauritius

Combining the novelty of being close to nature with the added benefit of more luxury, personalised service and extra amenities, glamping is a superb way to spend your days in Mauritius. The thrill of this little island is all about its natural beauty – its white sandy beaches, shimmering lagoons with turquoise water, swaying palm trees and beautiful coral reefs.  So why not immerse yourself into this beauty?

Benefits of Glamping in Mauritius

Camping is a great way to feel the flow of nature, however some people would rather have the luxury of a hotel room – so why not combine the two? When you glamp in Mauritius, you can be sure of a more secluded experience with less crowds. You can have your little slice of Mauritius all to yourself and the other few guests of the lodge. You can also enjoy a part of the island which is virtually un-touched except for the lodge, which has worked very hard to minimise its impact on the environment.

Where to stay in Mauritius

On the banks of the Grand River South East you will find the one and only Glamping accommodation on the island. The Otentic resort offers 12 tents and a chalet on their river site and 4 tents and one chalet on their mountain site. Each tent also has its own private bathroom and toilet, double bed, and singles if need be.

Things to do while Glamping in Mauritius

The resort also offers a restaurant, swimming pool, kayaks, SUP’s, mountain bikes and boat transfers. Wake up early and grab a SUP and set off up the river towards the waterfall where you may be lucky enough to see a troupe of monkeys refreshing themselves in the river. The waterfall is spectacular and visiting it is a great way to start the day.

The east coast of Mauritius is largely undeveloped and therefore offers guests a more authentic Mauritian experience. Drive your hired car up and down the coast looking for deserted beaches, or visit the many fishing villages with one of the mountain bikes from the resort.

Visit one of the highlights of the island, Ile aux Cerfs which is a mere 4km away from the resort, and offers a breath-taking lagoon, water sports, restaurants and more. The beaches on the east coast are also said to be some of the best on the island. So get out there and see what you can find!

Get off the beaten track and discover your own slice of Mauritian paradise with a glamping holiday!
