Travel bookings to Europe continue to climb as South Africans look for time efficient and cost effective ways to see this favoured continent.
Flight Centre, one of South Africa’s largest travel retailers, has seen an increase in the number of travellers opting for a guided tour. This trend shows how coach touring is becoming increasingly popular as it provides travellers a way to see a number of countries within a short period of time.
Flight Centre marketing manager, Deanne Grove, said the value offered by a guided coach tour meant that a European holiday was much more affordable.
“Coach touring is ideal as accommodation and transport are pre-arranged, making for a care-free holiday experience. The tours also offer valued extras such as included meals, knowledgeable tour directors and no queues to see the major highlights.”
Ms Grove said one noticeable trend is the increasing length South Africans are choosing to join a coach tour for.
“Another noticeable trend is the option of combining two mid-length tours, to make a total of 10 – 14 days, which covers off a wide range of countries and provides excellent value.”
For example travellers can explore Britain in depth on the Real Britain cultural heritage tour that is six days and takes in Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath, Chester, Grasmere, Gretna Green, Edinburgh, York, Coventry and Stratford-upon-Avon. And follow this up with a seven day tour ensuring a comprehensive glimpse of Europe that sees travellers visiting Paris, Lucerne, the Black Forest, Heidelberg, Schaffhausen, the Rhine Valley and Amsterdam.
