Best Party Beaches to visit in 2018

14 March 2018

Ain’t no party like a beach party, and that’s a fact. Whether it’s somewhere to dance the day away while soaking up the sun, or a beach to party the night away as you revel in the light of a full moon, the world has plenty of beaches to satisfy your desire to dance on powdery sand with the crystal-blue ocean as a backdrop.

Copacabana Beach, Rio, Brazil

This beach needs no introduction, but we’ll give you one anyway. Copacabana is one of the most famous beaches in the world and serves up a festive, colourful atmosphere. Always busy and never short of good vibes, the several bars scattered across the beach serve agua de coco (coconut water straight from a coconut), draft beer and refeicao—herbed meat and fried onions. If you’re there on a Sunday, enjoy the night market outside Rio Othon Hotel from 6pm.

Super Paradise, Mykonos, Greece

There’s something in a name, right? Well this name says it all. This is the beach “where the best things happen”, and the official website proudly states “Sins are always allowed in Super Paradise” (that should give you a fair idea of what’s in-store). Void of hotels and a go-to for party animals, Super Paradise has become synonymous with a good time, consisting of a bay that serves as the perfect amphitheatre to the echoes of the restaurant and disco bars (confident travellers will appreciate the exclusive “nudist only” sections too).

South Beach, Miami, USA

It’s no secret that the residents of Miami know how to have a good time, and this is evident in the culture at South Beach, also known at “SoBe”. This neighbourhood in Florida is home to popular clubs and hotspots, incredible bars to enjoy sundowners at and some world-renowned eateries. While alcohol laws a generally very strict in the USA, bars are allowed to close at 5am (yup, five in the morning—that wasn’t an error), and a section in Downtown Miami is even allowed to sell alcohol twenty-four hours a day.

Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan, Thailand

If you’ve heard of only one beach party in Thailand, you’ve probably heard of the Full Moon Party. Haad Rin Beach is home to this famous party and sports literal buckets of booze, incredible DJs, stages, loud music, dancefloors and bars. Make sure you dress the part with some lumo accessories (available to purchase at the event) and settle in for a night to remember (or forget: we did say buckets of booze).

Cala Jondal, Ibiza, Spain

Known to be frequented by “the rich and famous” (and the rest of us), Cala Jondal is a beautiful reflection of Ibiza and the ideal destination for those looking for an authentic Spanish experience during the day and some hardcore fun at night. The beach is flanked by jagged cliffs and lush vegetation, and offers thatched umbrellas to bask under during the day. Beach bars and restaurants ensure you’ll never go hungry or thirsty, while the beach itself provides a gorgeous spot to watch the sunset and the famous clubs nearby offer the perfect place to dance the night away.

St Tropez, France

Night-long parties and nightclubs are what wait for you in St Tropez. Well-known for upmarket nightclubs, you’d be wise to pack in one of your prettier evening ensembles for a luscious night out (we might not afford that celebrity life, but it doesn’t mean we can’t live it for one night). A home to artists of every medium and calibre, you’re sure to find yourself rubbing shoulders with celebrities, jet-setters and other curious tourists.

Praia de Batata, Lagos, Portugal

Like something straight out of a postcard, this cozy beach is a popular choice for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding… during the day, at least. Throughout summer you can enjoy a number of small but wild and entertaining concerts in this gorgeous piece of paradise nestled between towering cliffs.

Magnetic Island, Australia

You’ll definitely find yourself attracted to this beach (shameless magnet pun intended), especially if you find yourself drawn to beautiful reefs and cuddly koalas (not actually intended for cuddling). This beach is home to the only beachfront bar in all of Australia as well as an incredible vibe (not to mention a Full Moon party of its own).
