MSC Cruises will set a new cruising record in South Africa this coming 2010/11 summer season with two cruise liners scheduled for a bumper 69 departures out of local ports to offer the greatest variety of destinations ever.
The elegant 2087 capacity MSC Sinfonia, described as the finest floating hotel to operate out of South Africa, will be back for a second extended season cruising mainly from Durban to Mozambique and the Indian Ocean Islands from November through to May 2011.
Cruising simultaneously and offering new Atlantic and Indian Ocean destinations from December through to March 2011 out of Durban and Cape Town will be the more intimate 1500 capacity MSC Melody. Already known locally this well loved ship sets the standard for classic cruising comfort.
MSC Melody will be a regular visitor to Cape Town this coming season and offer new cruise destinations and a total of 11 departures out of the Mother City. Included are 3 X four night cruise to the old whaling port of Walvis Bay on Namibia’s famed Skeleton Coast and 2 X three night cruises to the Southern Cape’s popular holiday resort of Mossel Bay with views en route of the world renowned Cape Point and Africa’s most southerly point, Cape Agulhas.
Other shorter cruises aboard MSC Melody include four scenic three night cruises between Cape Town and Durban and three fun two night “cruises to nowhere” out of Cape Town promising sightings of dolphin and whales and glorious Atlantic ocean sunsets.
Longer more exotic cruises aboard MSC Melody, include a five night cruise to Tuleur in Madagascar a lively market town also known for its maritime museum housing a preserved prehistoric “Coelacanth”, a six night cruise to the tropical picturesque port of Fort Dauphin, Madagascar, and an 11 night cruise which includes a stop at, the Indian Ocean’s little France - the volcanic island of Reunion and Port Louis, the vibrant capital city of the island of Mauritius and a call at Fort Dauphin - Madagascar.

MSC Sinfonia will mainly depart out of Durban and continue to offer the popular three night cruises to the uninhabited pristine beaches of Portuguese Islands. Also on offer are the four night cruises of contrasts that includes stops in Mozambique’s bustling capital city of Maputo, the trendy Barra Lodge water sports resort or the idyllic turquoise waters of Portuguese Islands.
The ultimate indulgence in elegant top class cruising can be enjoyed with MSC Sinfonia’s special festive season six night Christmas cruise and 11 night New Year cruise which embrace all the wonders of cruising the tropical waters of the Indian Ocean islands.
First class is offered only on the Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A380. On the Boeing 747-400, first class is in the form of flat bed sleeping pods with 79” seat pitch with each seat being 22” wide. It folds flat to form a 6ft 6in fully flat bed. Other features include a 26 cm touch screen monitor with AVOD and personal 110v AC power outlets in every seat. Qantas offers 14 seats on all the 747-400s equipped with first class. Complimentary access to either the first class or business class lounges (or affiliated lounges) is offered. Business class is offered on all international Qantas flights with complimentary access to business class lounges (or affiliated lounges) is offered. Economy class is available on all domestic and international flights operated by Qantas. Seat pitch is 31in on most flights and seat width ranges from 17-17.5in. Executive Economy Class is only available on the selected Boeing 747-400 and all Airbus A380 aircraft.
